ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department Sunday night announced multiple robbery incidents that occurred in Christiansted Thursday night, including at a food truck and on the Christiansted Boardwalk.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, officers on Thursday were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center to investigate one robbery and one attempted robbery in downtown Christiansted.

At 10:30 p.m. Thursday, two female employees of Merina’s Food Truck on Church Street reported being accosted by suspects. One victim was grabbed from behind, dragged to the ground and valuables taken from her. The second victim had cash taken from her by another suspect who was armed. Both suspects fled the area towards Company Street. The victims were not harmed, Mr. Derima said.

Then at 10:50 p.m. on the Christiansted Boardwalk, two victims reported being approached by three young males. One of the males struck the female victim in the face, demanding her purse. The victim did not comply with the suspects, and after a brief struggle, the suspects fled the area after an unsuccessful attempted robbery, according to the news release.

Detectives are encouraging the community to provide any information by calling 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
