ST. CROIX — Four men are said to have ambushed a car in Barren Spot on Tuesday night, riddling the vehicle with bullets and leaving the passenger with gunshot wounds.
According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Tuesday at about 11:36 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the Juan Luis Hospital to investigate a report of a gunshot victim. The emergency call center later relayed that the incident occurred in Barren Spot, prompting officers to head to the location.
Upon their arrival to the scene of the shooting in Barren Spot, the officers discovered an unoccupied vehicle with bullet holes, with the engine still running.
The officers eventually found the driver of the vehicle, who told police that he was ambushed by four black males who fired upon his vehicle. The driver said that while he managed to escape, he was able to help the passenger obtain medical assistance at the hospital.
The V.I.P.D. said the matter is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or contact Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
