ST. CROIX — A former educator was arrested on sexual assault and other charges for allegedly grabbing and spanking the buttocks of a woman without her consent, according to the V.I. Police Department.
According to the news release, on Friday at approximately 3:48 p.m., police detectives arrested Clement Heyliger, age 58 of Estate Rattan on a warrant and charged him with first-degree unlawful sexual contact, simple assault and battery, aggravated assault, disturbance of the peace, and intimidation.
The charges stem from a December 2020 incident at the Divi Casino where Heyliger is alleged to have grabbed, then slapped the woman's buttocks without her consent, according to the police report.
Heyliger posted 10 percent of his $75,000 bail and was released pending his advisement hearing.
Heyliger is a former educator who taught at the Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School for years, and as a physical education teacher at the St. Croix Central High School.
