Magazines and weapons intercepted by CBP at the Cyril E. King Airport on Thursday By. CBP
ST. THOMAS — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced Monday that its officers intercepted a total of 2 firearms and high capacity round magazines, from a passenger arriving Thursday to the Cyril E. King Airport.
The passenger had a hard sided locked case within his luggage that when opened revealed two Taurus G3 9mm handguns with high capacity round magazines CBP said.
“CBP officers remain vigilant to detect and intercept weapons being brought into our islands,” stated Todd Bellew, Area Port Director, Office of Field Operations for the USVI.
“Our CBP officers continue to work with the Virgin Islands Police Department to ensure that firearms are legally declared and entered into the territory," he said.
The weapons were turned over to the VIPD for further investigation and final disposition, according to the release.
