ST. CROIX — Members of a family in Sion Farm were fast asleep during the wee hours of Wednesday when they were awaken by a barrage of gunfire striking their home, frightening family members and prompting them to take cover.
According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Wednesday at around 12:42 a.m., detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau were dispatched to Sion Farm to investigate the shooting.
Mr. Derima said the homeowner reported that her family members were asleep when they were awakened by loud gunfire and the sounds of bullets hitting the house. The residents took evasive measures to avoid getting injured by the gunfire. No one in the home was injured, according to police.
There was bullet damage at the front of the house and bullet holes in the windows and interior walls, Mr. Derima said.
This incident is under investigation. The VIPD is asking for anyone with information about this shooting to call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
