ST. THOMAS — A man accused of forcing entry into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and assaulting her was arrested on several charges, including violating a court order.

When police arrived at a unit in Bovoni Building just after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, they met a woman who told them that a few minutes earlier, as she was leaving for work, she opened the door to find Nigel Olivacce standing in the doorway.

The woman told police that she immediately tried to close the door, but Olivacce pushed his way inside, asking where she had been for the past two weeks. She said she asked him to leave, but instead he pushed her down onto the couch.

During the incident, the woman told police that Olivacce punched her in the left side of her face. Hyperventilating, she reportedly got up to open a window, and her ex-boyfriend told her that he would kill her. After that, Olivacce made his exit, leaving his phone behind.

Even though he is not a signatory on the woman’s lease, Olivacce reportedly went to the building’s management office in search of a key to her unit so that he could retrieve his phone. The woman told officers that she stopped management from opening her front door before they could gain access to her residence.

Olivacce was still in the vicinity when police arrived, and when they asked for his version of events, told them that the woman had told him to come by because he had to drop off some money towards the care of her son. They got into a verbal altercation, Olivacce told officers.

Police noted the swelling to the left side of the woman’s face, but she declined medical attention. They discovered that she had taken out a restraining order against Olivacce last May that was still current.

At that point, Nigel Olivacce was arrested and charged with violating a court order, simple assault, disturbance of the peace and unlawful entry, all classed as acts of domestic violence.

His advice of rights hearing on April 19 resulted in pre-trial release on payment of half of the $1000 bail requirement in cash. Olivacce is scheduled to be arraigned on May 5.
