ST. CROIX — An employee of the Cash & Carry store located in Estate La Reine was airlifted for medical treatment after being attacked by a customer with a box cutter, police spokesman Toby Derima made known Thursday.
Mr. Derima said that on Monday at around 2:50 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to a physical disturbance at the Cash & Carry store.
A customer at the store reportedly attacked the store employee with a box cutter. The employee sustained multiple lacerations during the incident, with one of the injuries potentially life-threatening.
The employee, attempting to defend himself during the attack, armed himself with bottles and swung, causing injuries to the customer, according to Mr. Derima.
Both individuals were transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment, but because of the seriousness of the employee's injuries, he was airlifted.
The suspect, however, was released from the hospital and Mr. Derima said V.I.P.D. officers were attempting to arrest him.
