While the former premier of the British Virgin Islands Andrew Fahie fights to be granted the ability to bond out of the federal detention facility in Miami where he is being held on drug and money laundering charges, one of his co-defendants says she will not seek to be released at this time.

Oleanvine Maynard, executive director of the BVI Port Authority, has waived her right to a detention hearing for now. In an order published last week, she was ordered detained after Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis considered Maynard’s pre-trial services report and determined that the risk of flight and the danger she presented to the community warranted her continued detention. The detention order does allow Maynard’s counsel to request a full detention hearing at any time in the future should she decide to seek release.

Meanwhile, the third accused, Oleanvine’s son Kadeem Maynard, has yet to make his initial appearance before the Southern District Court in Florida. His last known location was detention in Puerto Rico, where he was awaiting transport to Miami.

Andrew Fahie's bond hearing was changed to 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 23.
