ST. CROIX — Two brothers have been arrested and charged in a robbery case that took place on May 8, 2023, in Grove Place, according to the V.I. Police Department.
The suspects, identified as Jaheem Maxwell, 26, and Shaquan George, 25, allegedly robbed an adult male while he was walking through a shortcut behind Mutual Homes between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The victim, familiar with both Maxwell and George from past encounters, reported that the brothers pointed guns at him while George removed $200 cash from his person.
A warrant for the suspects' arrest was issued on August 17, 2023. Maxwell, who had prior arrests for gun possession, was arrested on August 25 and charged with first-degree robbery. Unable to post the $75,000 bail, he was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility and advised of his rights on August 27.
George turned himself in to authorities at the Police Administrative Building in Mars Hill on August 30. He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery. Like his brother, George was unable to post the $75,000 bond and was sent to the John Bell Correctional Facility. He is scheduled for an advised-of-rights hearing on September 1.
Both men face additional charges, including first-degree assault, carrying or using a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
