ST. JOHN — The V.I. Police Department has announced that two men were arrested in connection with a robbery of a jewelry store in Cruz Bay, St. John.

According to police, just before 2:00 p.m. on May 18, the men entered St. John Bracelet. During the incident, the store owner was shot in the face by one of the men, and had to be transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment. After shooting the owner, the men reportedly made off with a significant amount of the store’s merchandise.

After investigations identified the men as 21-year old Shane Paris-Creque and 19-year old Shaun Dogue Jr, arrest warrants were issued on May 24. On Tuesday Paris-Creque turned himself in to the Richard N. Callwood Command Police Station, with Dogue following suit the next day.

Both were arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder, third-degree assault, simple assault, first and third-degree robbery, and grand larceny.

Bail was initially set at $250,000 each, and the men were remanded into custody to await their initial court appearance.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau continues to investigate the matter, and welcomes information from members of the public who may know details about the crime.
