ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department on Thursday executed an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Malyki Lockhart in connection with an attempted murder case dating back to September 10, 2023.

According to the VIPD, the Criminal Investigation Bureau, along with the Special Operations Bureau carried out the mission.

The incident occurred near the Richmond fire station on St. Croix, where a male victim reported that he was walking when a vehicle approached him from behind. According to the victim, a male suspect, later identified as Lockhart, leaned out of the vehicle and began firing shots at him.

Following a thorough investigation into the shooting, authorities determined that Lockhart was allegedly operating the vehicle from which the shots were discharged. An arrest warrant for first-degree attempted murder, alongside a search warrant for Lockhart’s residence, was issued on February 14, with bail set at $100,000.

Lockhart was apprehended and booked on Thursday after law enforcement officials executed both the search and arrest warrants.

Unable to post the required bail, Lockhart was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility. He is scheduled for an Advice of Rights Hearing on Friday at the V.I. the Superior Court, where the charges against him will be formally presented.
