ST. CROIX — Armed robbers, unable to open a cash register at Crucian Wings Restaurant during a robbery on Sunday night, left with the cash register altogether, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
Police were dispatched to the restaurant, located in Mount Pleasant West, at about 8:42 p.m. Sunday to investigate the incident.
According to Mr. Derima, the cashier at the restaurant observed two unknown armed male individuals dressed in all black, wearing masks and gloves, enter the business. She was able to leave the restaurant and go to a nearby gas station to call for help.
The suspects grabbed another employee and attempted to get her to open the cash register, but she was unable to, according to the police report. The suspects took the cash register and fled on foot.
No one was injured during this incident.
This case is being actively investigated at this time, Mr. Derima said. Anyone with information that can help police find the suspects is asked to call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
