ST. CROIX -- Two male suspects burglarized an 80-year-old woman's home in Castle Burke on Sunday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced. The suspects, who were on the loose as of Monday night, also bound the victim to a chair with duct tape and left the house after burglarizing it.

According the V.I.P.D. news release, on Sunday at approximately 3:05 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Castle Burke in reference to a burglary. Upon officers' arrival, they made contact with the victim who had contacted 911, who then described the brazen act.

She said after hearing a loud noise in her home, two males wearing masks entered into her bedroom demanding money. Although, the victim gave the suspects cash, they restrained her hands and feet with duct tape and searched the home for more money. The suspects subsequently left the residence, leaving the victim bound. After eventually freeing herself, she called 911.

According to the release, the victim described the two suspects as being about 5 feet 5 inches in height, one slim built and one heavyset, wearing all black with black masks and gloves. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, the victim told police.

Detectives are asking anyone who knows anything about this incident to call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers USVI here. Your information can be what is needed to find these suspects, the V.I.P.D. said.
