St. Croix Police Chief Sean Santos provided details based on information provided by the student who is believed to have watched the incident unfold. The male suspect was unable to enter the premises due to effective security mechanisms at the school's gate, the chief said. VIPD officers conducted a complete internal and external sweep of the campus, as well as neighboring day care facilities, subsequently issuing an "all clear" to resume school activities.

The suspect is described as most likely an adult, but his motive remains unknown. The VIPD is currently investigating the incident and is encouraging community members to come forward with any relevant information.
