ST. CROIX — Police have made another arrest in connection with the shooting incident that occurred at the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion housing community Wednesday morning. The incident resulted in a female bystander being shot in the back, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

According to police spokesman Toby Derima, on Thursday at approximately 10:15 a.m., police arrested Rahkeem S. Swanston, age 20 of Estate Whim. He was charged with third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm openly or concealed, aiming and discharging a firearm, and possession of ammunition.

Swanston was identified as one of the shooters in an incident which resulted in a woman being shot at the housing community, the police report said.

Unable to post bail of $75,000, Swanson was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.

Police on Wednesday had arrested 22-year-old Jahamon Bruce of Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion, who witnesses say appeared on the scene with a firearm after multiple black males in a vehicle entered into the housing community and began damaging a vehicle. At that point the males who damaged the vehicle began shooting at him. Bruce returned fire, prompting the group of males to leave the area in their vehicle, Mr. Derima said.
