Another Homicide Reported in St. Thomas as Numbers Rise to 29 Territory-Wide

ST. THOMAS — The U.S. Virgin Islands has experienced its 29th homicide of the year, after a 25-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday afternoon in St. Thomas.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the latest incident took place at approximately 1:06 p.m. in the Kirwin Terrace area, near Borne Field in St. Thomas. A concerned citizen called 911 to report gunshots in the area, prompting Central Dispatch to notify the Richard Callwood Command officer. A gunshot victim was subsequently transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via a private vehicle.

Upon arrival at SRMC, Richard Callwood Command police units found an unresponsive male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Kiante Christopher, and his next of kin have been notified.

Today's homicide marked the 29th in the USVI for 2023, with St. Thomas accounting for 15, and St. Croix 14, according to VIPD records.
