ST. THOMAS — A heated altercation ensued after a woman's sexually suggestive comment was met with a less than enthusiastic response, resulting in her arrest on domestic violence charges. The incident took place on Monday afternoon in the Bovoni Housing community, where police responded to a disturbance involving Urissa George.
According to accounts provided by both parties involved documented in the probable cause fact sheet, a complex chain of events unfolded leading to the confrontation. The man explained to officers that he was at home with his mother, girlfriend, and younger brother when George, a friend of the family, was present. At some point, George allegedly entered his bedroom and made an indecent proposal to his girlfriend, suggesting a threesome. The man expressed his discontent, stating, "Don't be saying one thing today and then it's something else another day." This response reportedly upset George, who left the apartment cursing.
Shortly thereafter, George returned to the residence and began repeating the phrase "everything two time" directed at the man. In frustration, the man admitted to pushing her, which led to a physical altercation. During the altercation, George allegedly threw punches, prompting the man to grab and restrain her to prevent further violence. Despite his attempts to de-escalate the situation, George continued to slap the man before eventually punching him in the face. The man retaliated by slapping her back twice before his mother and sibling intervened, attempting to separate the pair.
Following this initial confrontation, George temporarily left but soon returned armed with a frying pan. The man's mother intervened by blocking the doorway, preventing George from entering the residence. George subsequently retreated again before reappearing to throw various items, some of which struck the man. As she departed, George allegedly threatened the man, stating he would be "dead tonight."
Police officers on the scene documented lacerations on the back of the man's neck but found no visible injuries on George. Based on the statements provided and evidence gathered, investigators determined that George acted as the primary aggressor. Consequently, she was arrested and charged with simple assault as an act of domestic violence, along with disturbance of the peace.
During her court hearing, George was remanded into custody until her advice of rights hearing scheduled for Wednesday. She was granted a $1000 bail in the form of an unsecured bond. Travel restrictions were imposed, requiring George to contact the probation office weekly by telephone. Moreover, she is prohibited from entering the victim's apartment and must maintain a minimum distance of 50 feet from him at all times.
Urissa George's next court appearance is set for June 30, where she will face the charges brought against her stemming from the altercation.
