All Clear Issued Following Bomb Threat at Westin Resort in St. John; Investigation Continues

ST. JOHN — Police investigators are looking into a bomb threat at the Westin Resort in St. John which was called into the resort Monday morning.

According to police spokesman Toby Derima, on Monday at approximately 10:00 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the Westin Resort in reference to the bomb threat. 

The investigation revealed the resort received a phone call stating that a bomb was going to explode on the property. The male caller is said to have called a resort staff member by name while making the threat. The resort management was advised to evacuate the facility as police officers and VI Fire Services personnel conducted inspections of the property. 

There was no explosive device or material found on site, therefore authorities provided an All Clear around 2:45 p.m. Monday, according to the police report.

This incident remains under investigation, according to Mr. Derima. Anyone with information that can assist officers in solving this crime is encouraged to contact police by calling 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
