67-Year-Old Man Ambushed and Shot While Leaving His Home For Sunday Ride

ST. CROIX — A fatal shooting occurred early Sunday morning in the Golden Rock residential area, leading to the death of a 67-year-old man.

According to the V.I. Police Department, authorities received the first alert through the 911 Emergency Call Center at approximately 7:42 a.m. following a ShotSpotter notification and multiple emergency calls reporting people running and a person on the ground.

Emergency responders, including personnel from VIPD, Emergency Medical Services, and the Fire Department, swiftly arrived at the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered a Black male lying on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was promptly transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for emergency medical treatment but was later pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained.

The deceased has been identified as Walton 'Selah' Macedon, a 67-year-old resident of the area. According to VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte, Macedon was leaving his home near the District Court in Golden Rock on his bicycle for his routine Sunday ride when he was ambushed and shot multiple times.

The VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) is investigating the circumstances surrounding this shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
