ST. CROIX — A 59-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with grand larceny, obtaining money by false pretense and financial exploitation of an elderly person or dependent adult.
Frances McIntosh was arrested on June 1 after detectives executed an arrest warrant based on the findings of an investigation initiated on June 8th, 2021. According to the V.I. Police Department that investigation, McIntosh had defrauded $15,000 from an elderly female who reportedly suffers from Alzheimer's. It is believed that some of the funds were used to purchase a vehicle, according to police. At the time of her arrest, bail was set at $20,000.
McIntosh appeared before a judge on Friday, having posted 10 percent of that figure to secure her release the previous day. The judge affirmed that McIntosh would be able to continue her release upon the signing of an unsecured bond to cover the remainder of the bail. While the matter remains pending, McIntosh is prohibited from having any contact with the complainant in this matter as well as any potential witnesses. She has also been ordered to surrender her travel documents to the court.
