ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night near Jordan’s Supermarket on King Street in Frederiksted.

According to the VIPD, the 911 call center received multiple notifications from the ShotSpotter system at approximately 8:08 p.m., reporting 49 rounds fired in the area. Several citizens also called the center to report hearing gunshots.

Officers from the VIPD, along with members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and forensic team, were dispatched to the scene. While they were on-site, they received information that a possible victim was en route to Juan F. Luis Hospital in a private vehicle.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 38-year-old Jahni Hamilton of Estate La Grange. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the VIPD has not yet released any further details regarding the circumstances or possible suspects involved in the incident.
