28-Year-Old Man Gunned Down in Frenchman's Bay, St. Thomas; Territory's 2020 Homicide Count Now 20

ST. THOMAS — A 28-year-old man was shot to death in Frenchman's Bay Friday night, bringing the homicide rate in St. Thomas to 12 so far for the year, and a territory-wide count of 20 (12, St. Thomas, 7 St. Croix and one on St. John), according to the most recent numbers provided by the V.I.P.D. on April 27, along with four additional homicide deaths recorded since that time — three of which were on St. Thomas and one on St. Croix.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Friday at approximately 7:54 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of shots fired in Frenchman’s Bay.

Officers traveled to the area and found an unresponsive black male. The male appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency Medical Technicians, who were on the scene, concluded that the male did not have any vital signs.

The victim has been identified as Elon Frett, age 28.
