ST. CROIX — A 24-year-old man was shot dead on Saturday in an area in Estate Campo Rico called "The Turf", V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has confirmed to the Consortium.
According to Mr. Derima, the 911 emergency call center received notification of the shooting at 4:15 p.m. Saturday. Upon the arrival of V.I.P.D. officers to the scene, they discovered the unresponsive body of an adult male lying on the ground beside his vehicle. The victim had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his upper torso.
He was identified by next of kin as 24-year-old Kaelan Finney.
The homicide is under investigation by the V.I.P.D.'s Criminal Investigation Bureau unit.
