ST. CROIX — Early Saturday morning, gunshots were heard near a bar and nightclub in the Princess Plaza parking lot in St. Croix, leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Roy Christopher III.

At approximately 2:44 a.m. on August 26, officers of the Special Operations Bureau (SOB) were in the vicinity when they heard what sounded like the discharging of shots immediately after a white vehicle passed by. The vehicle was heading eastbound towards the Five Corners traffic intersection.

Acting swiftly, the SOB officers traveled in the direction of the gunshots and subsequently located and stopped a white vehicle matching the description in the Harbor View Housing Community. A search of the vehicle and its occupants resulted in the discovery of a loaded firearm, a loaded magazine, an extended magazine, and one live round. Officers also recovered five spent casings near James Funeral Home.

Roy Christopher III, the driver, was placed under arrest and faces multiple charges, including first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying of firearm openly or concealed, and possession of ammunition. Christopher’s bail has been set at $100,000.

The incident and subsequent arrest come as part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb gun violence and ensure public safety. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
