20-Year-Old Man Admits to Raping 12-Year-Old Female Minor, Police Say

ST. CROIX —A 20-year-old man was placed under arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old female minor, the V.I. Police Department made known Tuesday.

According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, on August 20 a St. Croix resident walked into the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station and reported that a minor was sexually assaulted. 

Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau were notified and an investigation was conducted. Witnesses were obtained and the investigation disclosed that 20-year-old Isaac Belardo, an adult male sexually assaulted a 12-year-old minor female. 

VIPD Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau contacted Belardo, who was advised of his Miranda Rights, and he admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim.

On Monday Belardo was placed under arrest and charged with first-degree aggravated, domestic violence, and first-degree unlawful sexual contact.  

No bail was set, and Belardo was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advisement hearing set for August 24 at the V.I. Superior Court.
