ST. CROIX — A 19-year-old man was extradited from South Carolina back to St. Croix to face a charge relative to an incident that took place in May 2020, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
According to the news release, on Tuesday at around 4 a.m., detectives arrested 19-year-old Jared Dover of Tan Tan Terrace and charged him with possession of ammunition.
Mr. Derima said that on May 1, 2020, police investigated a shooting incident on Benny Benjamin Drive, where the gunshot victim was dropped off at the Juan F. Luis Hospital via private vehicle for treatment. Dover, the victim of the incident, was found in possession of a fully loaded firearm magazine. On August 24, 2020, officers obtained an arrest warrant from the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands. Detectives subsequently located Dover in South Carolina and brought him back to the territory to face his charge.
Unable to make bail of $50,000, Dover was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending his advisement hearing.
