ST. THOMAS — A 19-year-old man succumbed to a gunshot injury in St. Thomas on Thursday, the V.I. Police Department has announced.
The victim, identified as Nashai Francis, was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center at around 10:35 a.m. with a severe gunshot wound to his upper body, according to police.
Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed into surgery, the young man did not survive his injuries, police said. Following the incident, his family members confirmed his identity to the authorities.
No further details were provided.
The VIPD said it is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. They are urging anyone with information related to this crime to come forward.
