ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau has arrested 19-year-old Tyshaune Rey Jr., an alleged repeat offender linked to multiple thefts and robberies across St. Thomas.

According to the VIPD, Rey's crime spree, which included incidents at Cardow, McDonald’s, Pueblo Long Bay, and Kmart Lockhart Gardens, ended on Thursday, January 30, 2025, when VIPD officers and detectives apprehended him using surveillance footage, eyewitness accounts, and investigative leads.
Rey’s alleged involvement in a series of crimes began on January 15 at Cardow on Main Street, where he reportedly requested to see three pieces of jewelry before running out of the store without paying. Surveillance footage captured him fleeing the scene. He has been charged with grand larceny, with bail set at $20,000.
On January 21, Rey allegedly committed a robbery at McDonald’s in Lockhart Gardens. While an employee was serving a customer at the drive-thru, Rey reportedly approached the window, leaned inside, and took approximately $600 from the register. The employee believed he was armed because he kept his hands concealed in his jacket. He faces charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree robbery, and grand larceny, with bail set at $75,000.
On January 26, Rey was accused of stealing $500 from a cash pan at Pueblo Supermarket in Long Bay. Surveillance footage showed a masked individual forcefully grabbing the cash and running away. He was charged with grand larceny and petit larceny, with bail set at $20,000.
On January 30, 2025, at Kmart Lockhart Gardens, Rey allegedly took money from a cash pan and fled. Officers responding to the scene found a suspect matching his description—a black male wearing a gray hoodie and black cargo pants—based on surveillance footage. He is charged with Grand Larceny and Petit Larceny, with bail set at $20,000.
Despite initial efforts to evade capture, Rey was arrested on January 30 at 11:00 a.m., when VIPD officers and CIB detectives quickly identified and detained him. Authorities stated that video evidence, eyewitness statements, and prior investigative leads provided irrefutable proof of his involvement. He was advised of his rights, booked, processed, and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
