ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department has arrested 18-year-old Shango Iranie Allick Jr. for two separate violent incidents that occurred while he was still a minor. The charges stem from an armed robbery committed in August 2024 and a shooting that took place in January 2025.
According to the VIPD, on August 3, 2024, at approximately 11:29 p.m., police responded to reports of a robbery near the Frederiksted Credit Union. Two individuals reported being held at gunpoint by a suspect who demanded their belongings. Months later, on January 26, 2025, the VIPD’s ShotSpotter system alerted authorities to gunfire in the Frederiksted town area. Responding officers determined that multiple shots had been fired at a residence.
Subsequent investigations linked both crimes to a juvenile suspect. The Family Court Division issued arrest warrants, but the suspect had already left the territory. Law enforcement officials successfully secured his return to the Virgin Islands.
A transfer hearing was held on June 13, 2025, during which the Family Court determined that Allick would be charged as an adult. On June 25, 2025, police executed the warrants and took Allick into custody.
Allick faces several charges in connection to the August 2024 robbery, including unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, first-degree robbery, and second-degree robbery. In the January 2025 shooting incident, he is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, unauthorized possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of ammunition, reckless endangerment, and discharging of firearms.
Bail was set at $100,000. Allick was unable to post bond and was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
