ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department has identified the two deceased minor victims of the Monday night incident in Castle Coakley which resulted in the shooting of four males.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, the victims were identified as Odonnie Heywood of Concordia Manor and Jahny Ledesma of Canebrake Apartments, both 17 years old. A third victim, an adult, received gunshot wounds about the body and was listed in stable condition.

A fourth gunshot victim arrived at the hospital via private vehicle. He reported to police that he was in Castle Coakley in the vicinity of Thomas Bakery, when he observed a vehicle approaching and heard gunfire. The victim received a gunshot wound to the back and had a friend take him the hospital, where he was treated and released, according to the V.I.P.D. news release.

The fourth victim’s accounting of what happened, along with ShotSpotter notifications, allowed officers to locate the crime scene to collect evidence, Mr. Derima said.

The Consortium earlier today reported on the incident, which represented the first homicides of 2022 in the USVI.
