ST. THOMAS -- A third man was arrested for his involvement in last week's shooting that occurred at the First Stop Gas Station in St.Thomas, leaving at least two men -- including a Superior Court Marshal -- injured.
According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte, the 911 emergency call center received notification of the shooting at about 12:42 a.m. on May 7. Shortly after, the third suspect, who police identified as 22-year-old James Nathaniel, was seen at the entrance of the gas station's convenience store getting into a verbal altercation with another male. The verbal altercation escalated and led to a gun battle between the men, according to the police report.
Mr. Nathaniel was observed on surveillance camera removing a black firearm from his waistband area and firing the firearm at another individual during the shootout.
On Thursday at approximately 11:32 a.m., Mr. Nathaniel turned himself in at the Richard N. Callwood Command and was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of an unlicensed firearm during the commissioner of a crime of violence, and brandishing a firearm,
Unable to make bail of $75,000, he was remanded to the Burau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
