St. Croix Man Sentenced For Distribution Of Crack Cocaine At Sunny Isle Shopping Center

ST. THOMAS -- Bruce McIntosh, 55, of St. Croix, was sentenced in the District Court Friday on the charge of distribution of cocaine, United States Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced.

Visiting U.S. District Judge Anne E. Thompson sentenced McIntosh to 25 months imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release, a $500 fine, and a $100 special assessment.

A federal grand jury had previously returned an indictment against McIntosh, aka Bird, aka Butch on September 15, 2015. According to court documents, on June 12, 2014, at the Sunny Isle Shopping Center, McIntosh sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant for $300. Laboratory testing revealed that the drugs were cocaine base, a Schedule II controlled substance, with a net weight of 8.8 grams, according to the release.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Task Force Officers with the Virgin Islands Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel H. Huston.
