PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Police have detained one person for questioning after the badly decomposed bodies of a retired police corporal and his wife were found in their Cunupia home in Central Trinidad on Monday.
Police said that the body of Kenneth Mackan, 63, was found stuffed in a barrel while the body of his 61-year-old wife, Lillawati was found in suitcase. They had not been seen for the past week.
Police believe that the couple, who had been married for 25 years may have been killed for their vehicle.
The authorities said that the person assisting their investigation had been found driving the vehicle in Valencia, north east of here.
Police said they received a phone call from residents who had complained of a foul stench coming from the couple’s house and after forcing their way in, they made the gruesome discovery.
