Schneider Hospital, Blaming Covid-19 Variants, Apologizes for Long ER Wait Time

The Schneider Regional Medical Center has advised the public that they may experience extended wait times in its Emergency Department.

According to a release issued Thursday, the current increase in Emergency Room visits resulting from the surge in Covid-19 and its variants has caused ER wait times to be higher than average. "We regret the inconvenience this poses to our patients and would like to thank the public in advance for your patience, cooperation, and understanding," stated the release.

"Of course, patients with life-threatening conditions will continue to receive the highest priority and are seen immediately," said Interim CEO Atty. Tina Comissiong. Such conditions include heart attack, strokes, major accidents, or severe breathing or bleeding conditions.

SRMC said all patients presenting in the Emergency Department are triaged to determine the severity of their situation. This evaluation ensures that medical services are quickly provided to those with life-threatening conditions or who have critical emergencies.
