The V.I. Department of Health reported only 4 cases of Covid-19 in the territory Tuesday, an indication that lockdown protocols put in place are producing fruit.
Of the four cases, three were registered on St. Thomas and one on St. Croix. No new cases of Covid-19 were recorded on St. John Tuesday.
The department was tracking 130 active cases as of Tuesday: 21 on St. Croix, 103 on St. Thomas and 6 on St. John. D.O.H. listed as recovered 998 people as of Tuesday.
Fifteen individuals have died from the virus: 10 on St. Thomas — including four residents of the Queen Louise Home for the Aged — and 5 on St. Croix, including three members of one family.
According to the D.O.H. data, 16,515 tests were performed in total as of Tuesday, with 15,353 returning negative and 1143 positive.
Governor Albert Bryan has extended to Sept. 8 a Stay-at-Home that was scheduled to expire Monday. The order calls for the closure of non-essential businesses, beaches on weekends from 12 noon, and the halting of most lodging reservations to the USVI, among other directives.
