The V.I. Dept. of Health has reported the 8th Covid-19 death in the territory, with the latest fatality occurring in St. Thomas. The number of deaths are now split equally per district: 4 in St. Thomas and 4 on St. Croix, according to the D.O.H. latest infographic. Last week, a 23-year-old pregnant woman died from the virus in St. Thomas. On Monday, Governor Albert Bryan acknowledged the death and expressed condolences to the family.

It was not clear whether D.O.H. decided to count the fetus along with its mother as the 8th death. The department did not provide details, only that the death occurred in St. Thomas, as seen on the latest infographic. On Monday, Mr. Bryan said there were 6 coronavirus patients at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, one of whom was on a ventilator. At the time, Mr. Bryan said, "We're seeing people being able to be hospitalized and being able to recover. People are actually going on to the ventilators and being able to leave the hospital now."

There were two patients at the Juan F. Luis Hospital as of Monday, according to the governor. "We continue to make sure we have the medical resources available to individuals in our community," he said.

Between Monday and Tuesday, 21 cases of Covid-19 were reported in the territory, 13 on St. Croix, 7 on St. Thomas and 1 case on St. John. Find details of the July 27 data here, and July 28 here
