The V.I. Dept. of Health on Tuesday announced the 121st death in the U.S. Virgin Islands tied to the coronavirus.

According a release from the department, a 65-year-old man from St. Thomas became the latest victim to die of complications related to Covid-19. "The Department of Health extends condolences to the family and friends of our latest COVID-19 related fatality," D.O.H. said.

D.O.H. said it continues to work to slow the spread of the virus, and the department urged residents to take the following self-protecting steps: practice social distancing, wear a mask when in company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly, and wash your hands often with soap and warm water.

As of Tuesday there were 242 active cases of the virus territory-wide: 150 on St. Croix, 81 on St. Thomas and 11 on St. John, according to D.O.H. data. The territory's seven-day positivity rate stood at 12.58 percent.
