The V.I. Dept. of Health on Monday announced the 106th death in the U.S. Virgin Islands related to Covid-19.

"After further investigating cause of death and ensuring notification of next of kin, the Virgin Islands Department of Health is saddened to confirm the territory’s one hundred and sixth (106th) death related to Covid-19. The deceased is a 78-year-old female on St. Thomas," stated the department.

D.O.H. said it continues to work to slow the spread of the disease. "Please continue to follow these precautionary measures: practice social distancing, wear a mask when in company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly, and wash your hands often with soap and warm water," the department said.

Active infections continue to decline territory-wide, with St. Croix accounting for 134 cases as of Monday, followed by St. Thomas with 84, and St. John with 6, for a territorial total of 224.
