On Saturday night, be sure to tune into the VI Consortium Facebook page for three hours of entertainment from one of the territory's top bands: Big Band alongside International Soca Artist, Pumpa, and St. Croix's BugZBugs — one of the most diverse lyricists in the USVI.
The affair is being called a Quarantine Jam, and it's catered to people at home, in the wider Caribbean and all over the world who are under stay-at-home orders from their governments.
The event — whose primary sponsor is FirstBank VI — runs from 9:00 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Starlight Lounge, Bar & Nightclub. It will also feature SupaTrax, known as one of the best deejays in the territory.
Social Distancing During Event
The Consortium will adhere to strict social distancing for the artists and band, along with individuals helping with production. Big Band is made up of three members: each will be situated 6 feet away from each other. There will be one artist performing at a time, which means only four people will be on the stage at all times — each 6 feet apart.
Four cameras will be utilized for the event: one for each of the three band members, and the fourth to follow the performer. The only moving camera will be assigned to the artist, while the others will be mounted on tripods as organizers seek to maintain social distancing.
There will be no audience at the venue; everyone will enjoy the entertainment from the comfort of their homes.
Every hour, $250 will be given away to one lucky winner. Watch the event to learn how.
"Virgin Islanders and people all over the world have been asked to stay at home during this time as leaders respond to the coronavirus. Some people are bored and are probably tired of looking at the four walls, relatives, doing the same thing over and over. The idea here is to help ease the stress," said VIC Founder and Publisher, Ernice Gilbert.
