ST. CROIX — A kindergarten class at Pearl B. Larsen PreK-8 School will resume in-person instruction on Tues., March 9, following the confirmation of negative Covid-19 test results of one classmate, the V.I. Dept. of Education has announced.
According to D.O.E., the class, which comprised of nine students, a teacher and paraprofessional, temporarily returned to virtual learning on March 5 and 8 while the student and family awaited Covid-19 test results after reporting a possible exposure to the virus to the school.
The V.I. Department of Health has confirmed that the student had no exposure to Covid-19 from the family’s interaction with a friend, who has also tested negative for Covid-19, D.O.E. said.
Other classes at the school were not affected.
“I am pleased to learn that our student and their family are in good health,” said Superintendent Carlos McGregor. “I am also proud of the preparation of Pearl B. Larsen administrators, and all of our school administrators, who have diligently prepared to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff returning to our campuses.”
