Governor Albert Bryan will address the public Monday at 1:00 p.m. for the first time since the announcement of the first coronavirus death in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The announcement was made Sunday morning by the Dept. of Health through the VITEMA alert system, but the administration as of Sunday night had yet to provide further details such as age, district, and whether this person had underlying health issues.
The community has since been speculating and rumors have grown larger as residents have attempted to fill the void.
According to D.O.H., so far, 266 people have been tested, with 42 results returning positive (28 on St. Thomas, 12 on St. Croix and two on St. John.)
On Friday, Governor Albert Bryan said three people were hospitalized territory-wide, with two on St. Thomas and one on St. Croix. "All of these patients are in stable condition and none of them are using ventilators at this time," Mr. Bryan said at the time.
The department said 34 persons have recovered from the disease, which means D.O.H. is only tracking eight individuals.
