Governor Albert Bryan on Monday during his weekly media briefing clarified how the $250 reward will be given to residents who get vaccinated against Covid-19.
Responding to a Consortium request for clarification on the incentive, the governor said, "When I originally said it, it was for people to be incentivized to take the first shot and only those people would have gotten paid when they took their second shot. [But] because of all the people calling... saying foul, we're just going to pay anybody who got a shot between the day I said it and the day it cuts off, but you have to get your second shot." Mr. Bryan first announced the $250 reward August 9.
He added, "If you don't get it by the first week in September you're not going to qualify for the $250."
The $250 is good through Sept. 30, according to the governor. Mr. Bryan has also said individuals who receive the $250 will still be eligible for the “Vax-to-Win” lottery.
In other Vax-to-Win news, there will be a special drawing dubbed “Healthcare Heroes” for healthcare workers, which includes selfsame prizes as the drawings for school-based personnel. The drawing will take place on October 4 and winners will be announced on October 12. Eligible persons for the drawing must be registered by Oct. 1
