The V.I. Dept. of Health announced on Saturday the 103rd death related to Covid-19 in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The department is also reporting continued decline in Covid-19 cases, with territory-wide active infections below 330.
"After further investigating cause of death and ensuring notification of next of kin, the Virgin Islands Department of Health is saddened to confirm the territory’s one hundred and third death related to Covid-19. The deceased is a 57-year-old male on St. Thomas," D.O.H. said.
There were 324 active Covid-19 cases territory-wide as of Saturday, with St. Croix accounting for a bulk of the infections with 211, followed by St. Thomas with 89, and St. John with 24, according to D.O.H. data.
Governor Albert Bryan has announced his decision to revert to guidance put in place before the Omicron surge of Covid-19 led to record-shattering infections, when cases arrived to near 4,000 and the positivity rate skyrocketed to 24.30 percent. As of Saturday, the seven-day positivity rate stood at 4.53 percent.
