The V.I. Dept. of Health has announced the 105th death related to Covid-19 in the USVI.
"After further investigating cause of death and ensuring notification of next of kin, the Virgin Islands Department of Health is saddened to confirm the territory’s one hundred and fifth death related to COVID-19. The deceased is an 89-year-old male on St. Croix," D.O.H. said late Wednesday.
According to the latest data provided by D.O.H., there were 296 active Covid-19 cases territory-wide as of Wednesday. St. Croix accounted for 182 of those cases, followed by St. Thomas with 102, and St. John with 12. The territory's seven-day positivity rate stood at 5.53 percent Wednesday, an increase from the 3.68 percent registered Monday.
D.O.H. said it continues to work to slow the spread of Covid-19. "Please continue to follow these precautionary measures: practice social distancing, wear a mask when in company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly, and wash your hands often with soap and warm water," the department urged.
