ST. THOMAS -- The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority has scheduled an emergency road closure for St. Thomas’ Beltjen Road for today, the authority made known via press release.
Beginning at 9 a.m., Beltjen Road will be closed from the intersection by Wet Willy’s, south to the intersection of Lover’s Lane and Beltjen Rd. Work is estimated to be completed by 4 p.m.
Traffic will be rerouted away from Beltjen Rd. to allow water crews to repair a leaking 6-inch water main in the area of the authority’s Hatchett Substation. Motorists are asked to follow directional signs and flagmen instructions for the safety of crews, pedestrians and other drivers.
WAPA apologized for the inconvenience caused by this road closure, and ensured the public that every effort will be made to restore vehicular traffic as quickly as possible.
