ST. CROIX -- The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority, through an alert issued last night, revealed that feeder #6 here was affected by torrential rainfall, and that its telephone system had been disrupted by the inclement weather.
WAPA did promise, however, to move as quickly as possible to restore power to residents.
According to the Authority, crews were out last night patrolling the lines in an effort to locate the cause (s) of the service interruption. It added that they had already located tree branches on lines near the Salt River entrance, and that branches were trimmed, with an active effort to continue to search for additional causes underway.
The semi-autonomous entity added that in areas where service outage was reported, power would be restored as quickly as possible, and encouraged residents to continue reaching out by email as the phone lines remained inoperable.
