A youth-focused financial literacy event is set for this Saturday at the Research and Technology Park, where students ages 13 to 17 will take part in a full day of instruction on money management, credit, taxes, major purchases, and other real-world financial topics through Value Your Future! A Youth Financial Symposium, presented by Valure.
The event will run on March 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at RT Park and is being offered free for students ages 13 to 17. Organizers said the symposium is centered on educating the next generation on financial literacy through hands-on learning with mentors, a guest speaker, food and drinks, and giveaways.
Featured as guest speaker is Kyle Sexius, the Credit Guru.
According to the event materials, topics will include wages and budgeting, the stock market, buying a car and house, taxes, credit, and more. The symposium will also include hands-on education with mentors.
Drop-off for registered students is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., while pickup is set for 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Organizers said registration is full, and that registered students have already been sent a confirmation email along with a parental consent form to complete. They advised that anyone experiencing issues should email [email protected].
The event is being supported by a broad group of sponsors, including Keswick Insurance, Virgin Islands National Guard, Virgin Islands Air National Guard, Oriental, RT Park, ROE 101.3 FM, DPMNM, House of Printing, Soundstage VI, VI Consortium, and Eminence Center.
The promotional material for the event also lists Valure as presenter and describes the symposium as Value Your Future! A Youth Financial Symposium.
