New WIC facility in Hospital Ground, St. Thomas. By. VIDOH

The V.I. Department of Health has announced the full transition of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program staff to their new facility at Hospital Ground in St. Thomas.

As of Monday, the WIC staff have vacated their temporary office on Norre Gade, and all participating clients on St. Thomas have been informed about the move to the new location, the department made know via press release.

DOH celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly constructed building in November. Over the past several months, the WIC Program team has been diligently working to equip and furnish the facility, which includes a breastfeeding room, teaching kitchen, training and conference areas, and administrative offices, according to the release.

"We are grateful for our clients' patience and understanding as we rebuilt the WIC facility following damages from hurricanes Irma and Maria," stated VI Health Commissioner Justa Encarnacion. "The new WIC building is finally fully furnished and equipped to support our staff and operations, and we are truly excited about serving our young mothers and children in this new and inviting space."
