The V.I. Water and Power Authority has announced a Feb. 5th road closure on St. Croix at the intersection of Route 669 and Centerline Road near the Spicy Grill Restaurant. The closure is related to WAPA's Golden Grove Underground Project.

The road closure will begin on Sunday, February 5th at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. According to WAPA, between 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. both lanes will be closed, and from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. only one lane will be closed.

The public is advised to use the Melvin Evans Highway as an alternative during this time. Traffic signs, roadblocks and flaggers will be on site to help maintain/detour traffic, WAPA said.

The road closure will allow Vivot Construction to pull necessary cables as part of the utility's ongoing federally funded Golden Grove Undergrounding Project, whose aim is to strengthen WAPA's distribution network by transferring overhead infrastructure underground, making it less susceptible to damage from natural disasters.
