Viya Vice President of Public Relations & Gov't Affairs, Jennifer Matarangas-King, told the Consortium Friday that Viya offices will be closed "out of an abundance of caution" through Tuesday, however the company's services will remain available.
The announcement comes as the USVI continues to be impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, and as the rise of the Delta variant has resulted in what is the territory's largest Covid surge yet, with the V.I. Dept. of Health reporting 318 active cases as of Thursday.
The company said it will not be performing disconnections through Tuesday, however customers who want to make payments can do so through a number of options.
"Most of the things people will want to do are available on our website 24-7," Mrs. Matarangas-King said, pointing to the Viya website.
Also open is the company's call center through telephone # 340-777-VIYA (8492). Additionally, payments can be made at the Federal Credit Union on St. Thomas and the Frederiksted Credit Union on St. Croix. "You don't need to be a member of the credit unions to make a payment," Mrs. Matarangas-King said.
As of Thursday, there were 318 active Covid-19 cases territory-wide according to the V.I. Dept. of Health: 204 on St. Thomas, followed by St. Croix with 101, and St. John with thirteen.
